ProNutro JAGRunners was launched on 28 June 2008. ProNutro JAGRunners is a community based running programme designed to coach and motivate children to compete in running events. Supported by Western Cape Department of Education and eminent athletics coach, Dave Spence, the program seeks to recognize and cultivate gifted athletes from disadvantaged communities, promoting their personal development and allowing them to achieve both their athletic and personal potential.
Meyer said, “We work on the premise that actions speak louder than words, and we want ProNutro JAG Runners to make a real difference to these seriously disadvantaged children, introducing sport into their lives and maximising their potential. We need to invest in the personal development of our youth, whether it be through sport, culture or education.”
The ProNutro JAG Runners is active in communities such as Langa, Manenberg, Khayelitsha, Gugulethu, Mitchell’s Plain, Stellenbosch and Bonteheuwal. Committed to giving young people opportunities for growth, and encouraging a fitter, healthier and more focused lifestyle, the ProNutro Jag Runners aims to allow youth to achieve their personal best – whether at home, on the sporting field or in the classroom.
