JAGRunners meet Salomon Stars

On Wednesday, Ryan Sandes and Salomon arranged for 20 ProNutro JAGRunners kids to get the opportunity to meet number one mountain runner, Kilian Jornet from Spain. Kilian holds many mountain records including the fastest run up Kilimanjora!

They also met number one woman in the world, Anna Frost from New Zealand.

After inspiring videos of Kilian, the youngsters were taken for a mountain run from Hout Bay to Constantia Nek.

The Salomon internation team manager was very impressed with how strong the kids are!

Salomon spoiled all the kids by giving them a brand new pair of Salomon trail shoes, a salomon shirt and Salomon cap.

An amazing day – Thank you Salomon and Ryan for Creating the Change!

IKHAYA WIN KAYAMANDI COMMUNITY LEAGUE

Ikhaya Primary school last week became the first winners of the first ever ProNutro JAGRunners Community Cross Country league.

Children love to compete against one another and without competition will soon loose motivation to participate in sporting programmes. Due to a lack of transport, children in Kayamandi are unable to participate in cross country events as these always take place a long distance away. This is where

The JAG Foundation, spearheaded by Elana Meyer, took the initiative to bring the competition to the community by introducing a cross country league event in Kayamandi. Every week the numbers increased, proving that this is something the children enjoy and want in their community.

The children themselves asked us to please organise more races.

The league also created an opportunity to encourage the children to join the ProNutro JAGRunners programme which was first launched in Kayamandi and has now expanded to 19 communities in the Western Cape, Natal and Gauteng. The ProNutro JAGRunners programme is an afterschool running programme which provides healthy alternatives to young children through mentoring, coaching.

Thank you to Stillwater Sports who supported us in providing equipment for they layout of the course.

The success of the event has highlighted the cry from our children to play and the need to create more such sporting opportunities right where they live..

Gauteng Coaching Programme Launched

JAG running programme, through My Coaching Backpack was launched in Gauteng Friday 12 August.
In partnership with MaAfrika Tikkun and Montecasino we trained our first Gauteng coaches this last Friday. There were 13 coaches in total. The were from Orange Farm, Diepsloot and Germiston. On the Saturday we did a training session with the kids. They started out at 24, but by the end had grown to 46 as other kids saw the action and came to join in. We were also privileged to have top SA female runner, Rene Kalmer, join is and are excited about her passion to inspire other young girls in the community. Over and above the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal, JAG is now also in Gauteng with the motto of coaching the coaches to leave a legacy. Creating the change in communities.
