ProNutro JAGRunners "Pay it Forward"

ProNutro JAGRunners teams have been challenged to give back to their communities by doing one “Pay it Forward” project per term.

The Tafelsig Team came up with the Green Team Project.

The aim of the project was to clean the school gardens and playing fields of litter and sharp objects to make it a cleaner, healthier safer environment.

Coach Charles said that the runners were very excited and positive about the project. The runners showed a lot of respect towards each other and connected as a team. The project also helped to make the new runners feel welcome and part of the team.

The principal was very happy to see that the children are cleaning their school. The teachers commented on seeing the change amongst the children and their positive attitude towards a healthier lifestyle.

Britney Limberg one of the runners:-“It was a good experience and it felt nice cleaning my school”

Coach Charles had this to say "In Tafelsig there are people that really try to make the place a healthy and safe environment. But you still get those who are negative towards life and they just dump their rubbish on open fields and on school grounds. I’m happy that my JAG teams mindset is positive, because they strive to really fight hard against this negative environment"

Natal Coaching Clinic II

Last week we held our second coaching clinic with the 5 coaches we are currently

mentoring on the My Coaching Backpack programme in Natal. The clinic was held at Alexander Park in Pietermaritzburg.

The coaches have made very good progress over the last two months. They are very enthusiastic and are busy planning a competition between the different training groups.

We also received feedback that the investment that is being made in the coaches is having a positive affect on them as teachers and they are able to apply what they learn from coaching in the classrooms.

Natal JAGRunners - Masemini

Last week we visited our coaches who were are training up on the My Coaching Backpack in Natal.

These photos are of the training group at Masemini school near Ixopo in the Southern Midlands.

This school is on the Sani2C route and the programme is being supported by the Sani2C organisers,Mandy and Glen Haw.

I was very impressed with the quality of coaching after only 2 months of being up and running.

Puma Day in Lavender Hill

It was Puma day in Lavender Hill yesterday. Upcoming running stars Niklas and Damian and Damian van Wyk received their sponsored shoes from Puma. Coach Roger Daniels handed the shoes out at training and used the opportunity to talk to the whole group and to motivate them all to work hard for their goals.

Both boys have been doing very well in the High Schools athletics, winning many races and if not winning then at least coming in the top 3. This weekend they compete in the WP junior champs.

Niklas has also received an invite from the Minister of Sport in WC to visit him at his office.

Coach Roger also handed out the monthly incentives of Puma goodies to two of the kids who have shown great commitment.
