Kraaifontein A.C. and WP Talent Search Race

On Saturday 300 ProNutro JAGRunners took part in Kraaifontein A.C and WP Talent search race at Bernadino Heights High School in Kraaifontein. It was great to see how excited the organisers were when they saw our kids arriving. Everyone jumped to help us get our runners entries organised and wherever you looked their were people photographing our kids.
The coaches had a big task sorting out the entry cards for all their runners and did fantastically.
It is not easy to manage a big group of very energetic youngsters!
Next it was time to warm up. Each coach took his group runners to the fields and it was amazing to see these big yellow circles of runners doing their warm up. The energy and enthusiasm of the coaches was also amazing to see.
Start of the run was pretty crazy. There were around 700 kids all sprinting off at the same time and I felt like I was middle of a washing machine. One of our girls had a very nasty fall, and was a bit shaky getting up again, but when she lifted her head and saw the other runners were far
ahead she took off like a Jack Russel after a bunny rabbit and was never to be seen again. These
kids are tough!
In one of the groups I ran with, phrases like, “Keep the pace guys, keep the pace” and “2km down, 2 to go”,
were some of what I heard and this just showed that these kids aren’t just running wild but that the coaches
are imparting something valuable to them.
The kids ran very well, their fitness levels have definitely improved. Everyone was very excited about the
medals they received and some even won lucky draw prizes.

Two Oceans Fun Run Khayelitsha

On Saturday 75 ProNutro JAGRUNNERS took part in the last of the
two oceans fun runs in Kayelitsha. The race was some distance from
where the runners live, but the head coach Sandi Matodlana showed
great initiative by negotiating affordable transport with a local bus driver.
Well done Sandi!

The top 15 girls and boys get chosen to go the final fun run on the Friday
before two oceans and 5 boys and 4 girls from the ProNutro JAGRUNNERS
in Kayelitsha made the top 15.

Some of the runners also won wonderful spot prizes from Puma.

Next up, 360 ProNutro JAGRUNNERS will be taking part in a talent identification

Two Oceans Fun Run Blue Downs

On Saturday morning 20 ProNutro JAGRUNNERS from our Kayamandi cluster took part
in the third of the Two Oceans fun runs in Blue Downs. This is a series of 4 races with the
top 15 runners being taken to the main two oceans fun run on Friday 10th April.
It was wonderful to see the older boys helping to pin on entry cards and leading the
warm up exercises. This confirms our slogan “Future Leaders in transit” on the back of the bus!

Many of the runners filling the top positions were High School runners and our
runners did very well against them. One of the girls did particularly well and when she
was called up for the photo of the top finishers she was half the height the other girls!
Each runner received a finishers medal and a special pencil case with some stationery inside.
There were many spot prizes and two of the runners walked away with a nice Puma
goodie. The children had loads of fun and cannot wait for their next race.
